A World Organisation Against Torture inspection delegation mission in Morocco
A delegation of experts from the World Organisation Against Torture (WOAT) has started its mission in Morocco. It will be for them to assess the level of implementation of the conclusions and recommendations of the UN Committee against Torture in the fight against torture, as Morocco is committed to respect, within its process of transformation to democracy.

WOAT's mission is led by the Swiss magistrate and deputy chairman of the WOAT Dick Marty, as well as the  WOAT representative  for the MENA region, Belkis Wille.

The inspector will be received and  the committee assisted in its mission by Moroccan Moroccan civil officials of the SOS-Torture Network, the Moroccan Organization for Human Rights (OMDH) and the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH).

Morocco is engaging internationally to meet numbers of protocols for human rights and is subject to the institution of the new constitution in July 2011 and a series of visits to international inspections to assess compliance by it of its obligations, as was the case recently when the visiting UN Rapporteur against Torture Juan Mendez, noted in his report that torture is still practiced in the kingdom and the path of reform is still a long one.
