Algiers - Algeria's Labour, Employment and Social Security Minister Mohamed Benmeradi is hopeful downward trend in the country's unemployment rate which fell below 10 per cent level in September will continue in the coming years.

"It is possible to be optimistic and assume that the downward trend of unemployment rate will continue in the coming years as confirmed by projections of international financial organisations (International Monetray Fund and World Bank)," he told APS here Tuesday.
The minister referred to the current pace of job creation, additional demand for jobs at more than 500,000 per year, steady public investment efforts and positive measures to encourage private investment.
"The continuous drop in unemployment rate will mean reduced pressures observed in the labour market," he said.
