Marrakech - The Averroes Prize was presented, on Saturday in Marrakech, to Senegal's former President Abdou Diouf and to former Spanish Prime Minister Felipe Gonzalez Marquez.
The Prize, awarded annually by university of Cadi Ayyad in Marrakech, is placed under the high patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.
The award is offered annually as a distinction to two personalities in recognition for their actions in favour of promoting humanism in the Mediterranean region.
The prize is part of the "Mediterranean excellence" project that was launched in Marrakech in 2012. It aims to promote the values of tolerance and humanism in the Mediterranean region.
