New York - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced, Monday, in New York, the appointment of Canadian Kim Bolduc as his special representative and Head of MINURSO, said the office of the spokesperson of the UN.

The new Special Representative of the Secretary General succeeds German Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weiber, whose mission will end on July 31, 2014, the UN said.
Bolduc, who joined the UN in 1987, has a significant 30-year experience, and has occupied many positions within the UN, including as UN Resident Coordinator of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Panama.
The new MINURSO chief holds a Master degree in development and international cooperation from the University of Ottawa, Canada.
