Belgium says Morocco's military justice reforms is important step for consolidating rule of law





Brussels - Belgian justice minister Annemie Turtelboom considered that justice reforms adopted by Morocco are an important step to consolidate the rule of law and promote human rights protection.

"The draft law approved by the ministers' council, (exempting civilians from trial by military tribunals), is a major step in consolidating the rule of law and reinforcing human rights protection in Morocco," said the Belgian official following a meeting with a delegation from the Moroccan court of cassation.

She also expressed her country's readiness to support Morocco's reforms, before commending the excellent judiciary cooperation existing between the two countries.

"It is important to maintain good collaboration because our countries have strong links and due to the presence in Belgium of a Moroccan community", she stressed.
