Accra - The inclusion of Morocco in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will boost the sub-region exports, according to Ghanaian paper "Daily Graphic".
"Thanks to its strategic geographical position and its dynamic economy, Morocco is an important platform for West African countries to gain a foothold in the European, American and Arab markets," wrote the daily on Monday.
It added that if Morocco joins ECOWAS, "the member countries of the community will be able to benefit from the expertise of the north African country in different sectors, mainly agriculture and offshoring".
In terms of trade exchanges, the "Daily Graphic" said that West Africa is a prime trade partner of Morocco, with a share of over 58.2% in 2016, followed by East Africa and Central Africa. "Morocco and West African countries are bound by several trade agreements," it recalled, noting that the Kingdom inked with Ghana 25 agreements during HM the King's visit to Accra in 2017.
