Following the upsurge in public anger in Benghazi over the weekend and perhaps harnessing the expression of rage against the militias the President moved to day to take decisivecontrol of the situation by calling for illegal militias to disband. Three have promised to disband following popular protests in Benghazi which left four dead and seventy injured according to AFP.
Whilst the move to bring militias under control and redeploy them as official government forces will take time at least a start has been made which would have been unimaginable under the former NTC government.
President Magarief said in an article for the Washington Post that the revolution would only be complete when state institutions were strong and weapons would be controlled by the government.
