Early reports on Sunday showed that the National Forces Alliance (NFA) a coalition led by former prime minister Mahmoud Jibril is leading in the polls,according to Faisal Krekshi the coalition secretary general.

Mohamed Sowan the leader of one of the main islamist parties, the Justice and Construction Party ,linked to the Muslim Brotherhood , acknowledged the NFA's early lead but said that his party was doing well in the South. Final results are not expected until Wednesday at the earliest.
