Rabat - Judicial police of the city of Marrakech brought on Wednesday a 33-year-old man before the competent prosecutor's office for spreading fake news on the alleged death of a child infected with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
Security services had spotted a picture on "Facebook" accompanied by fake news on the death of a child in hospital following coronavirus complications, National Police (DGSN) said in a statement, adding that investigations led to the arrest of the suspect.
The suspect had been placed on custody before being brought on Wednesday before justice.
Security services will continue surveillance and monitoring operations in order to fight fake news that could undermine citizens' security, the source said.
