Meknes: ISIS Extremist Supporter Who Planned Suicide Attack Arrested, BCIJ

Rabat - As part of efforts made to identify extremist elements with terrorist projects and on the basis of accurate information, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), under the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested, on Saturday, in coordination with the judicial police services in Meknes, an ISIS extremist supporter, aged 41 and operating in the same city. Security investigations have shown that the suspect is involved in the propaganda of ISIS extremist ideology, in parallel with his attempts to obtain information and expertise on the method of using weapons, equipment and materials, said a BCIJ press release on Sunday.

The investigation also revealed that the suspect was planning a suicide bombing to cause serious damage. The operation resulted in the seizure of electronic devices, as well as written documents on products related to the manufacturing of explosives, the same source added. The suspect will be brought to justice upon completion of the investigation led under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office.
