Moroccans Stranded Abroad: 750 People Return to Kingdom via Agadir-Al Massira Airport

Agadir-Al Massira Airport - Some 750 Moroccans stranded abroad, following the closure of air, land and sea borders due to the Covid-19 pandemic, returned to the Kingdom on Monday, via Agadir-Al Massira airport as part of an operation by the Moroccan authorities. This operation particularly benefited people suffering from chronic illnesses, tourists in precarious situations, in addition to children and infants. 5 Royal Air Maroc (RAM) planes, including 2 from Paris, and three from Tunis, Lyon and Amsterdam, landed at Agadir-Al Massira international airport, carrying each around 151 passengers. Upon their arrival at the airport, all necessary measures have been taken to facilitate customs formalities and allow the beneficiaries to recover their luggage in a smooth and orderly manner, in full compliance with preventive measures and the health protocol in force.

These people have boarded buses to hotels in Agadir, where they have been tested for the new coronavirus (Covid-19) and will be quarantined nine days according to current sanitary procedures and in the best conditions. Hundreds of Moroccans stranded abroad have returned to Morocco on several flights from Algeria, the Spanish region of Andalusia, Madrid, Barcelona and the Canary Islands, as well as from Istanbul. These repatriation operations will continue and will soon concern other regions and countries.
