Madrid - Morocco and the Canary Islands are driven by a strong will to develop and diversify their relations of friendship and cooperation, said president of Canary Islands autonomous government Paulino Rivero.

Rivero was speaking following a meeting, on Monday in Madrid, with HM King Mohammed VI's ambassador to Spain Mohammed Fadel Benyaich on means to foster bilateral cooperation.
During this meeting, the two officials surveyed the current status of bilateral ties as well as prospects of cooperation with the region of Canary Islands mainly economically.
Benyaich underlined HM the King's interest in developing relations with Spain in the economic, political, social and cultural fields, highlighting the importance of Africa's socio-economic development through triangular cooperation (Morocco-Canary Islands-Africa).
