Rabat - Moroccan security services seized on Thursday 863 kg of cannabis near the northern city of Tangier, according to the Moroccan police in a statement. During this operation carried out in a home at the rural commune of Ksar Sghir, an individual with multiple criminal records in international drug trafficking was arrested, the statement added.
Moroccan security services have seized over 23 tons of cannabis since May 1, in different operations. Despite efforts to crack down on cannabis farming in the last decade, Morocco remains one of the world largest producers of the cannabis resin, according to the United Nation's Office on Drugs and Crime.
