State of Health Emergency: 4,222 Individuals Apprehended in Last 24 Hours (Police)

Rabat - The security operations conducted to impose the state of health emergency decreed to stem the spread of the pandemic of the new coronavirus (Covid-19) have led to the arrest, in the last 24 hours, of 4,222 individuals, of whom 2,215 have been placed in police custody to complete the preliminary inquiry ordered by the competent public prosecutors, while the others have been subjected to the procedures of investigation and identity checks.

The national police (DGSN) said Monday in a statement that since the state of health emergency was declared by the public authorities, a total of 76,907 people have been arrested in all cities of the Kingdom, of which 40,752 have been referred to the competent prosecutors after the procedure of police custody.

These arrests were made in the prefectures of Casablanca (10,243), Rabat (9,828 ), Kenitra (8,496 ), Marrakech (7,107 ), Oujda (6,351 ), Agadir (4,824 ), Tetouan (4,250 ), Salé (4,118 ), Meknes (4,000), Beni Mellal (3,194 ), Fez (2,409 ), Tangier (2,287 ), El Jadida (2,252 ), Settat (2,094 ), Ouarzazate (1,426 ), Laayoune (1,409 ), Taza (867), Errachidia (836), Safi (648) and Al Hoceima (268).

Security services will continue to reinforce control operations in all the Moroccan cities and coordinate their interventions with the various public authorities with a view to ensuring the strict implementation of the health emergency rules, the DGSN stressed.
