Tangier: Police Arrest Three Individuals for Drug Possession and Trafficking

The Tangier judicial police arrested, on Wednesday three individuals aged between 34 and 50 years, for their alleged involvement in a case of possession and trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.

A statement by the national police (DGSN) indicated that two of the suspects were arrested onboard a car at a road checkpoint between Tangier and Tetouan, stating that the search operation resulted in the seizure of 470g of cocaine, concealed in a bottle of fruit juice.

The investigation led to the arrest of the third individual, suspected to be their main supplier of narcotics, onboard a car at the entrance to the city of Tetouan, the same source added.

Searches conducted at the home of one of the suspects in Tangier resulted in the seizure of an additional 195g of cocaine, bringing the total amount of drugs seized to 665g, noted the DGSN, adding that sums of money originated from drug trafficking, two cars, mobile phones and an electronic scale, suspected of being used in this criminal activity, were also seized.

The suspects were placed in police custody to complete the preliminary investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent procurator's office in order to determine the ramifications of this criminal activity.
