Madrid - The Royal Elcano Institute, one of the principal think tanks in Spain, called for a solution of autonomy in the Sahara under the Moroccan sovereignty, while warning of the setting up of a micro-state that will threaten the region's stability.

In a report elaborated by about 200 Spanish experts and quoted by Spanish news agency "EuropaPress", the Spanish Institute said that this situation is a source of concern in the Maghreb and beyond it.
Entitled "toward a strategic renovation of Spanish foreign policy", the body's report said that Spain may adopt a more proactive stance, at the appropriate time, to consider a real, guaranteed autonomy solution.
The Spanish think tank also said that the European integration is a top strategic priority for the Spanish foreign policy and recommended that Madrid plays a more proactive role by developing ideas related to the progress in the European integration and common policies.
