Tunisia: Police discover a Salafist torture center

It was a center where Islamists "apply" Sharia punishing offenders, alcoholics and those that seem off-the-law.

The torture center was discovered by the intervention units in Ain Kbira, Menzel Abderrahmane (governorate of Bizerte, north) following complaints from some youth who were victims of torture by Salafists.

The police have arrested two individuals belonging to the Salafist movement during the search in the center in question, reports the website Kapitalis.

Some members of the Islamist extremist movement confirmed this raid in statements to the media, but the Interior Ministry did not respond, preferring to minimize the phenomenon.
