Central American Parliament Welcomes Measures Taken by Morocco To Curb Covid-19

Guatemala - The Central American Parliament (Parlacen) welcomed the measures taken by Morocco to curb the pandemic of the new coronavirus, stressing the values of solidarity shown by the Moroccan people. President of the regional parliamentary institution Nadia De Leon Torres welcomed, in this regard, the creation upon the Instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, of the Special Fund for the Covid-19 pandemic management, in order to ensure the funding of prevention and control measures against the Coronavirus and its effects. De Leon Torres underlined that the establishment of this fund has enabled the Kingdom to mobilize the resources necessary to counter this health crisis.

The creation of this fund is a source of pride for Morocco, an observer member of the Central American Parliament, she said in a document sent to MAP by the Embassy of the Kingdom in Guatemala. Created in 1991 and based in Guatemala City, the Central American Parliament is a regional forum aimed at promoting the integration of the countries of Central America. It includes six member states, namely El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic, as well as a number of observer countries.
