During a meeting at the "Casa Arabe" Foundation on the sidelines of the Moroccan-Spanish parliamentary forum, under the theme "Morocco in the 21st century, a changing society", Ghellab said that, contrary to other countries in the region which witnessed unrest as part of the Arab spring, Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI chose a calm revolution to meet the aspirations of citizens.

Morocco decided to continue its democratic reforms within the framework of continuity and the preservation of stability, he added, noting that the Kingdom opted for political pluralism and the promotion of liberties since independence.

He said that several large-scale reforms for upholding democracy were launched by HM the King as the equity and reconciliation committee (IER), the family law, and the new constitution which provides for the separation of powers.

Sheikh Biadillah underlined that the new constitution enabled to set up independent mechanisms to fight corruption, and reinforce good governance and competition.
